We've joined Women’s Utilities Network

Photo of a WUN eventWe're proud to have become a partner of Women’s Utilities Network (WUN), a group focused on helping to support and encourage women within the utilities sector, to show our commitment to encouraging diversity in the water industry and to support our female colleagues.

The purpose of WUN is to create a network of support, to help women working in the utilities space develop their skills and their career opportunities within the sector, promoting utilities as a great career choice for women.

“We are delighted to welcome Cambridge Water as a partner to WUN. Their support and aligned ambitions mean that we will be able to continue to develop our offer and support more women in developing their careers across the water sector.”

Jo Butlin, WUN Founder & Director

“I’m proud that we have become a Women Utilities Network partner. Women are still underrepresented in utilities, making up only 20% of the workforce across the sector. We want to do all we can to show that a career in utilities, and the water sector in particular, is an excellent opportunity for all women.”

Caroline Boden, Group Head of Marketing and Communication

Heidi Knapton, Head of Customer Operations at Cambridge Water, has been appointed as a members’ advocate for WUN, having worked in the water industry for over ten years.

“I was thrilled to discover WUN, it feels amazing to be part of a team with so many like-minded women. The support I’ve received from WUN has already been fantastic – the events they hold and the community they have created fuels my ambition to drive positive change in the utilities sector. When I look back over my career so far and reflect on my earlier roles, I realise just how much WUN could have supported in building my network and confidence in those early days. If I can provide that support to other women in similar circumstances, I will be over the moon.”
