Biodiversity

Projects that Explore Biodiversity in the Local Environment

PEBBLE is the biodiversity improvement fund from Cambridge Water.

Funding of up to £10,000 is available for projects that are looking to improve, restore or create habitat within our supply area. Projects can also have a community benefit, or a particular focus on the management of invasive, non-native species.

You can watch videos about some previous projects in our PEBBLE playlist or read our case studies.

“We recognise the importance of the local environment, and the part we play in the conservation and enhancement of biodiversity. Increasing the variety of natural living things and the diversity of the habitats where they live, as well as reducing the impact of invasive, non-native species, not only benefits wildlife, it can also enhance local communities and our open spaces.

Applications are welcomed from local river interest groups, environmental organisations and charities, community organisations and schools. They must either own the land or have permission from the landowner for the project and the work cannot have already taken place."

Dan Clark, Water Resources and Environment Manager for Cambridge Water.
