PEBBLE fund returns for eighth year
Our PEBBLE fund, ‘Projects that Explore Biodiversity Benefits in the Local Environment’, has returned for its eighth year, with applications now open. We want to hear from community groups and charities that want to encourage and enhance biodiversity in their local communities.
We’re offering funding of up to £10,000 for any projects designed to improve, restore, or create new habitats which benefit biodiversity, the environment, and have a positive impact on the local community. Applications are invited from local river interest groups, environmental organisations and charities, community organisations and schools.
Over the past seven years, PEBBLE has funded over 46 projects, improving over 87 hectares (equivalent to 87 rugby pitches).
“Last year, our PEBBLE fund highlighted the great work that can be achieved when communities come together and work together. As the pandemic reached new heights, it reinforced the importance of protecting and enhancing our environment, as more than ever, we appreciated the great outdoors.
We look forward to receiving applications from charities, community groups and other organisations, to find out more about their projects and how they could be helped by a grant from our PEBBLE fund.”

Previous projects that have received a grant from our PEBBLE fund include River Mel channel restoration and biodiverse community gardens at two housing schemes.
