Cambridge Water is helping Guilden Morden Brownies get closer to their local environment by donating two water butts to the pack.
The water butts will be used to help water plants growing in the grounds of the groups’ headquarters at The Pightle, which is also used by local Cubs, Scouts and Guides.
Brown Owl Debbie Fisher, said: “We are really pleased Cambridge Water has been able to donate two water butts for us to use. We have recently planted a new hedge on the site which is made from native species and will be collecting rainwater from the roof of the scout hut to water the new plants as they establish.”
Annalise Lister, from Cambridge Water said: “Water butts are a fantastic resource for anyone to have in their garden. We hope that our donation to Guilden Morden Brownies will not only help the girls achieve their gardening and environmental badges but also serve to show them the importance of conserving water for the rest of their lives.”
Every quarter Cambridge Water donates money to local community groups and good causes that operate within the Cambridge Water supply area. The money can be used to fund a wide variety of initiatives, ranging from equipment for sports clubs to toys for playgroups. It can also be used to fund special projects, such as building bat boxes or establishing nature reserves.
