Cambridge Water not complacent despite recent rainfall
Cambridge Water is not complacent about water supplies, despite the recent rainfall.
A spokesman for Cambridge Water said: “Our boreholes are reacting positively to recent rainfall, however, due to the below average rainfall from October to March and the previous dry winter of 2010/11 they are still below the level we would expect for the time of year.”
Careful management of our resources through leakage and efficiency measures to reduce demands have ensured that we have avoided the introduction of a TUB (Temporary Usage Ban).
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank customers who have been a great help by heeding the calls for restraint. We continue to urge our customers to “Help out in the drought” to ensure prospects for the summer remain good.”
“The fact remains that, despite this recent rainfall, we still need average or above average rainfall next winter to recover from the last two dry periods. “
They also highlighted the continued reduction in leakage figures. “We have increased our resource to find leaks. Customers have also been proactive in reporting leaks where they see them and we would urge anyone who spots a leak to report it to us immediately, either by calling 01223 706050 or completing the form available on the homepage of our website.”
