Burst main – Victoria Road, Cambridge


Work to repair a burst main on Victoria Road, Cambridge will be completed overnight, according to Cambridge Water.

Residents will have their water supply back later this evening and all traffic management should be cleared from the road in time for tomorrow's rush hour.


Cambridge Water engineers are still working to find the exact location of a burst on a water main along Victoria Road in Cambridge.

Customers along the road still have their water supply, however, bottled water is on standby for around 70 properties which will temporarily lose their supply when the repairs are able to be carried out.

Barriers are in place at the side of the road. Further road traffic measures may be implemented depending on the location of the burst.


More than 70 properties will be temporarily without water following a burst water main along Victoria Road in Cambridge.

Cambridge Water inspectors were called to the Mitcham’s Corner end of the road, just after 1pm today (Monday 24 June).

Traffic management is likely to be in place while emergency repairs are carried out.

A spokesman for Cambridge Water, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to residents and motorists as a result of the burst main. We are working to resolve the situation as soon as possible.”

Most work to repair burst water mains is resolved within six hours. As yet, Cambridge Water is unable to provide an estimated time for supplies to be restored. Further updates will be posted onto our website when more information becomes available.
