Cambridge Water is getting ready to shake, rattle and roll when it joins forces with the Cambridge Music Festival later this month.

The water company is helping to bring world class music to the community by sponsoring the Shake Rattle and Roll event which takes place on November 18.

World renowned and inspirational percussionist, Colin Currie, will join Cambridge Youth Percussion Ensemble and first time players from local primary schools for a celebration of drumming and percussion to be held at the Corn Exchange.

Each group will showcase work developed during the education project and Colin Currie will perform Dave Maric’s “Triology.”  The event will finish with everyone coming together to form a specially composed work by Mark Aldous.

The performance forms part of the Cambridge Music Festival, which runs from November 9 to 20 and will feature orchestral, choral and chamber music concerts, alongside a programme of education and community events.

Stephen Kay, managing director for Cambridge water, said: “Since we were launched 160 years ago, Cambridge Water has been intrinsically linked with the city of Cambridge and the local community.

“The Cambridge Music Festival is based on a framework of music, education and technology – three areas for which Cambridge is renowned worldwide.

“We are delighted to be in a position to support an initiative that celebrates what that community has achieved during that time and makes those achievements accessible to all.”
