Competition

Cambridge Water is one of 22 companies established under the 1989 Water Act to supply water services.

In 2003, the 1991 Water Industry Act was amended to allow customers who use in excess of 50 megalitres per year permission to seek alternative water suppliers.

The system works by allowing licensed entrants into the industry to use Cambridge Water's public supply system to supply water to a customer's eligible premises.

This can either be through the wholesale supply of water that has been treated and supplied by Cambridge Water or through the combined supply of water introduced by the licensee into the supply system.

You can access a copy of our network access code below. The code contains standard policies and specific terms for access to Cambridge Water's supply system. It is reviewed each year and may be modified at any time, for example, to reflect developments in water supply competition.

You can also access a copy of the Network Access Agreement and our confidentiality documentation.
