What to do when you move

What to do if you are moving house....

1) Read your meter. You can find out how to do this here.

2) Complete our moving house form. This will notify Cambridge Water that you are moving house and provide you with the opportunity to request the payment method you prefer. To complete the form you will need the following information:

·         The address of your new property

·         Your previous account number if you were a Cambridge Water customer

·         Your water meter reading

·         Your bank account details if you wish to set up a Direct Debit.

3) If your property has been standing empty for a while run your kitchen tap for five to 10 minutes before drinking the water or using it for cooking. This will push through any stale or musty tasting water that has been laying unused in the pipework. Instead of allowing this water to run down the drain, why not collect it and use it for other purposes such as watering your plants.

4) Make sure non-return values are installed on your washing machine or dishwasher. These help minimise any metallic or chemical tastes and odours. Non-return values are easy to fit and available from most DIY stores.
