1) |A standing charge, which is the same for all households; and

2) A charge based on the rateable value of your property

Wastewater

Wastewater services are provided by Anglian Water. It collects, treats and disposes of sewerage and surface water and Cambridge Water collects the charges on its behalf. You only need to pay these charges if your property receives these services.

When to pay your bill

If you do not have a meter we will send you a bill for the water service once a year, in March.

All customers have the opportunity to pay their yearly bill in the following ways:

In full by April 1
In two instalments by April 1 and October 1
In 10 monthly instalments from April 1 to January 1 inclusive

In more frequent instalments, such as weekly or fortnightly by prior arrangement

If you do not keep to the instalment arrangement you will have to pay the outstanding amount for the half year immediately.

Rateable value

What is a rateable value?

All properties built before 1 April 1990 were given a rateable value by the Inland Revenue, based on their size and value.

This means every unmetered property with the same rateable value receives the same water bill, regardless of how many people who live there. So a single person pays the same amount as a family of six.

It is no longer possible to appeal against the rateable value of your property and because of this many of our customers choose to have a water meter installed.
