Capturing Water 2008

A photographic competition in the Cambridge Water series, In Celebration of Water, held in association with the Cambridge Evening News.

For amateurs and professionals, children and adults, a competition to capture, in photographs, images of water in and around East Anglia.

Prizes include photographic equipment and a master class with a top East Anglian photographer. Win the opportunity to see your work on public display at Michaelhouse in Cambridge.

To qualify

• The competition is open to everyone in the Cambridge Water area

• The subject of the photograph should ‘capture water’ - its beauty, its uses, its essence, in and around East Anglia

• Please note that the subject is water, not people

• The competition is open to photographs taken on either digital or film cameras

• The competition is open to amateurs and professionals

Categories

• 4-10 years (as at 1st August 2008)

• 11 - 18 years (as at 1st August 2008)

• Adult amateur - colour

• Adult amateur - monochrome (i.e black and white, sepia, mono-tint)

• Professional - colour or monochrome Prizes

Prizes

• Adult winners: Photographic master class

• Junior winners: Photographic equipment

Type and size of entry

• All entries should be submitted as prints, including digital images

• Prints should be submitted un-mounted

• Prints should be a minimum size of 10ins x 8ins

Shortlistings for schools:

• If a school chooses to participate, please shortlist entries to a maximum of six photographs per age category

Closing and delivery dates:

• The closing date for entries is Friday, 15th August at 5.00pm

• The competition is limited to a maximum of three photographs per entrant

• Entries submitted by post need to arrive between Monday 7th July 2008 and Friday 15th August 2008

• Entries delivered by hand can be made between 9am and 5pm from Monday 7th July to Friday 11th July or between 9am and 5pm from Monday 11th August to Friday 15th August

• Entries are posted/delivered at the entrant’s own expense and risk.

• They should be packaged flat in a hard-backed envelope
